WB Discovery has released a new teaser trailer for The Penguin, the spinoff TV series based on Matt Reeves' 2022 film The Batman.

The latest teaser, which you can view above, provides more insight into the events after The Batman; the series revolves around Colin Farrell's character, the Penguin, who fights for control of the criminal underworld of Gotham City following the death of Carmine Falcone. However, Penguin doesn't have it all his own way as Falcone's daughter Sofia is also fighting to gain the same power.
Alongside a new teaser trailer, WB Discovery confirmed that the Max original series will hit the streaming platform sometime in September. Previously, the show was teased to release sometime in the Fall of this year, so today's teaser narrows that release window just a bit.
The Penguin spinoff TV series was first announced in September 2021 and is one of a few projects set in Matt Reeves' The Batman universe. The second spinoff TV series will focus on the Gotham City Police Department, and despite a few hiccups, the show is apparently still in development. Though only two spinoff shows were announced last October, Variety reported that a third spinoff show focused on Arkham Asylum is also in the works. In addition to TV shows, a sequel to The Batman is set to release on October 2, 2026.
In IGN's review of The Batman, we wrote: "Matt Reeves' violent, thrilling, darkly beautiful take on The Batman more than justifies its place in the franchise's canon."
