Political comedies and dramas are incredibly difficult to get right. They have to speak to some of the issues of the day while still remaining timeless. The genre is overstuffed with attempts to create engaging and edgy narratives that, unfortunately, have been largely forgotten. When it comes to connecting with the audience, the show must replicate real life enough to be relatable but bring a unique flavor that makes it more than just a commentary on the political world. Comedies face more challenges than conspiracy and political drama shows because they still have to actually be funny.
