The first season of Wednesday takes pains to focus on the title character, rather than members of her ghoulish family. It helped make the series a big hit for Netflix, as well as setting the project apart from its classic predecessors in The Addams Family franchise. Wednesday Addams stands on her own for the first time, handling high school and a monstrous murder mystery more or less on her own. Her clan, while present, serves almost entirely as backup.
