Spider-Man is known for his strong sense of humanity, even refusing to kill the villains he encounters despite their heinous crimes. However, on rare occasions, he's been overtaken by outside forces that have compelled him to embrace his dark side. In Amazing Spider-Man (vol 6.) #34 (Zeb Wells, Patrick Gleason, Marcio Menyz, VC’s Joe Caramagna), Peter has succumbed to evil after Kraven the Hunter speared him with a weapon imbued with the sins of Norman Osborn, the former Green Goblin. With his moral prohibitions stripped from his conscience, Peter embarks on a revenge spree and seeks all who have hurt him in the past. One of his targets is his ex-girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson, and her new boyfriend Paul. This isn't the first time the Wall-Crawler has hunted MJ. A controversial storyline from Spidey's past involved him carrying out the murderous, post-hypnotic suggestions of a dead villain. While there are differences between the two Spider-Man arcs, the current storyline can hopefully succeed where the past narrative faltered.
