Amazon is offering the Sapphire Pulse AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT 20GB video card for only $689.99. The RX 7900 XT launched in November 2022 with an MSRP of $899. This is the lowest price we've seen since then, with the previous low being $699.99 on Black Friday. This is a very powerful card that can handle gaming at up to 4K resolution. Compared to NVIDIA, it's comparable to the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. The RX 7900 XT is the best overall AMD GPU that we recommend for 2024.

The Radeon RX 7900 XT is AMD's second best card right behind the RX 7900 XTX. It is more powerful than any previous generation card released, and that goes for NVIDIA's offerings like the RTX 3090 and 3090 Ti as well. It's roughly on par with the new GeForce RTX 4070 Ti and it's also cheaper; right now the least expensive RTX 4070 Ti is abotu $800. The RX 7900 XT comes equipped with 20GB of VRAM (more VRAM than an RTX 4080) so it scales very with higher resolution gaming. It can comfortably manage any game at 4K with consistent framerates of 60fps and beyond. The higher VRAM count is also great for memory hogging AI apps like Stable Diffusion.

The Sapphire Pulse RX 7900 XT model features a huge 2.7-slot triple-fan heatsink. The rear full metal backplate has passthrough vents so that one of the three fans can cool your motherboard components. It has two HDMI ports and two DisplayPorts which is a versatile combination in case you are running multiple monitors and you need a combination of both types of ports. The stock RX 7900 XT has a boost clock of 2,394MHz but the Sapphire Pulse has a boost clock of 2,450MHz (2% performance bump).

If You Need Ray Tracing, Stick with NVIDIA

AMD Radeon cards are outstanding alternatives to the NVIDIA GeForce cards. For gamers who want to maximize their performance for their dollar, AMD GPUs are the way to go. However, if you're set on playing 4K games with ray tracing enabled, then you'll want to stick with NVIDIA. That's because the GeForce cards perform better than their Radeon counterparts when it comes to ray tracing. Ray tracing is a form of rendering that allows for more realstic lighting effects. It makes light sources and shadows look better, but at the steep cost of GPU resources.
