Robert Smalls' feats in the American Civil War are the stuff of legend. His story is a tale about defiance, liberation, and heroism -- and now it will be told in a four-issue comic book series titled Defiant. Written by screenwriter Rob Edwards (The Princess and the Frog, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Treasure Planet), with interior art by Ray-Anthony Height (X-Men Blue, Moon Girl, and Devil Dinosaur: Place in the World) with covers by Nikolas Draper-Ivey (Black Panther: The Album) -- Defiant has already exceeded its Kickstarter goal of $10,000, skyrocketing to over $100,000. This adaptation is also being developed into a feature film project.
