It has (and continues to) inspire anime and manga of various genres and demographics, though it influenced battle shonen the most. Its influence even spread beyond Japan's borders, and to works by artists and animators from around the globe. A series like this is also notable because of how much it did that wouldn't be acceptable by today's standards and practices. Regardless, Dragon Ball's iconic status led people to wonder what it and anime, in general, would be like if it came out sooner.
