In case you did not think a blue checkmark, an edit button, or the ability to make extremely long posts was not appealing enough, X is now offering a new feature to limit replies to verified users.

In a new post, X (formerly Twitter) announced the new feature available to all users. Previously, you could limit your posts to only those you mention or those following you. This new addition allows all users to let those subscribed to Premium access reply if the setting is enabled.
In theory, the feature could be used to curb trolling, harassment, and misinformation, especially when you consider that verified accounts must be verified via payment, phone number, and/or a government ID. On the other hand, the new setting is also ripe for abuse as bots can also have verification thanks to verification checkmarks now offered to anyone who pays money to subscribe to Premium. And when you factor in that, researchers have reported that X ranks the lowest out of all social media platforms when it comes to curbing the spread of disinformation and harassment.
In either case, this is the latest change to arrive on the social media platform, nearly a year after Elon Musk took over ownership of the company and about 11 months after Musk announced that anyone subscribing to Twitter Blue would receive a verification checkmark if they pay $8 a month.
