The long wait for the animated revival series X-Men '97 is almost over, and now Disney has revealed the full list of episode titles for Season 1. As those titles reveal, the series will be adapting one of the most critically acclaimed Uncanny X-Men storylines of the 1980's.
Here's the full list of episode titles for X-Men '97: Season 1, as revealed via a '90s-appropriate, TV Guide-style magazine cover:
Among other things, this list reveals that the series will be adapting "Lifedeath" from 1984's Uncanny X-Men #186. Created by Chris Claremont and Barry Windsor-Smith. Lifedeath is essentially a love story revolving around Storm and Forge, as the recently depowered Storm visits Forge in his Dallas, TX compound and the two bond over their mutual traumas. Does this mean we can expect Storm to lose her powers and face similar emotional struggles in X-Men '97?
It's clear the new series will follow in the footsteps of the original X-Men: The Animated Series by adapting iconic comic book storylines. The original series was notable for adapting other Claremont-penned stories like The Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past, as well as more contemporary '90s comics like Age of Apocalypse and The Phalanx Covenant.
These episode titles also confirm that X-Men: Season 1 will wrap with a three-part story arc called "Tolerance is Extinction." With Hasbro's X-Men '97 toys revealing that the anti-mutant vigilante known as The X-Cutioner is appearing in the series, it's probably safe to assume he has a major aprt to play in the finale.
X-Men '97 will debut on Disney+ on Wednesday, March 20 with a two-episode premiere. For more on the animated series, see our biggest burning questions for X-Men '97 and elarn how it takes us back to a time when the X-Men were the biggest comic book franchise on Earth.
