Despite the many goofy elements inherent in Futurama's fusion of sci-fi and comedy, the series has long imbued very human stories into its universal framework. While Fry, Bender and Leela might be absurd characters, many of their arcs are rooted in very familiar human aspects. Another member of the Planet Express Crew highlights that balancing act particularly well.
