Today there's a rather hefty discount on Logitech's high end G-series Astro A30 gaming headset. It's normally $229.99 and there's currently a $50 manufacturer's discount going on right now, but Amazon has it even cheaper with an additional discount that brings it down to $153.23. That's 33% off MSRP.

You might be familiar with the Astro gaming headsets. Astro was formerly an independent purveyor of gaming headsets before it was acquired by Skullcandy in 2011 and then finally by Logitech in 2017. Since then, Logitech has folded it into its G-series gaming lineup. The Astro A30 is one of its higher end gaming headsets, with only the Astro A50 being pricier (mostly because of the external mixamp that's included, not because of the headset itself).

The Astro A30 is a "one size fits all" headset in that it has both multi-platform LIGHTSPEED wireless functionality in addition to Bluetooth for easy pairing to mobile devices. This particular model on sale is compatible with the Xbox Series X|S, PC, Switch, and Android. The only caveat is that PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles need their own dongles to work perfectly. One is included depending on which model you get (in this case Xbox), but you can buy the other separately. The PS5 dongle currently sells for $24.99.

I own this headset and for this price I think it is an excellent option for gamers. The positional audio is outstanding and has really benefitted me in games like Battlefield 2042 (yes, I am one of the few dozen unique non-bot gamers who still play that game) and Warzone. The audio quality is good, at least as good as the Steelseries Arctis Nova 7 that I also own, and I can turn the music up pretty loud without any distortion thanks to its big 40mm drivers. There is an internal built-in mic that works well enough, but if you need better voice quality a bigger detachable boom mic is also included. The headset also looks pretty slick, with it's all white styling accented with a pair of strikingly iridescent can covers that sets it apartly nicely from my other mostly black and gray headphones.

Of special mention is the dual pairing. Use the dongle to pair the A30 to your console or PC with LIGHTSPEED wireless and then turn on Bluetooth to pair with a smartphone or other Bluetooth device. The simultaneous pairing is a really convenient feature that isn't common in gaming headsets.
