Where to Stream Earth, Wind & Fire's September

In 1978, the stylistically hard-to-pin-down super group Earth, Wind & Fire (are they disco? Soul? R&B?) released a greatest hits album titled "The Best of Earth, Wind & Fire, Vol. 1." To pad out the length, and perhaps to entice fans to buy the album even if they already owned their celebrated discography, the band added a new track called "September." And the rest is history, because you are probably already singing "Ba-dee-ya" in your head right now.

Where to Stream Earth, Wind & Fire 'September'

If you have a streaming service and it somehow doesn't have September on it, cancel immediately. The service clearly hates enthusiatic, tight horns with an incredible hook, also known as "fun." Thankfully, few music streaming services don't have September as part of their catalog. It would be an extremely regretful business decision. On Spotify alone the song has been streamed over 1.3 billion, (yes, with a 'B') times.

Of course, if you don't have a streaming music platform you can always just watch the amazingly late-70s video on YouTube anytime you want. But it's just a little more special on the 21st night of September, and it does sound better on the streaming platforms than it does through the YouTube video.

The runner-up for song about September usually falls on Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends," which is much more dour and wholly lacks the enthusiastic musicianship of Earth, Wind & Fire's 'September' but that's fine. If Green Day's your thing, the 30th anniversary Dookie collection is available on CD and vinyl. You can preorder it now for its September 29 release date.
