Much like the original Nintendo Switch, the Switch 2 is all about playing with friends, whether that’s together in your living room or remotely. If you’re planning to play with more than two people locally, you may want to stock up on some extra Joy-Cons.
A set that includes the left and right Joy-Con 2 controllers and corresponding straps can be pre-ordered from Walmart, Best Buy, GameStop, Target, or Nintendo for $94.99. (Note: GameStop online pre-orders don’t open until 11 a.m. EDT.)
The new Joy-Con 2 controllers may look similar to the Joy-Cons made for the original Switch, but they’re bigger, secure to the sides of the console with magnets, and have mouse functionality. (Note: You can also pair your first-gen Joy-Cons to your Switch 2 wirelessly, and charge them with Nintendo’s two-way Joy-Con charger.)
Although purchasing the Joy-Con 2s individually is more expensive than buying a pair, the controllers for the Switch 2 can be purchased piecemeal for $54.99 each. Replacement straps for the Joy-Con 2s are also available for $13.88, while the charging grip (which adds two rear buttons near the grips) is available for $39.99. Nintendo has also produced wheels that make use of the Joy-Con 2 motion controls for games like Mario Kart World, which are available in sets of two for $24.99.
The cost of these accessories were originally lower, but Nintendo increased the prices of almost all of the Switch 2 accessories following news of tariffs, though the cost of the console remains unchanged.
The Joy-Con 2 controllers and many other accessories will be hitting shelves June 5 — the same day as the Switch 2 console itself. The Switch 2 is available to pre-order now for $449.99 through Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, and more retailers, along with plenty of other Switch 2 accessories, Switch 2 games and new Zelda amiibo.
