Disney's live-action remake of The Little Mermaid will officially swim its way to Disney+ on September 6, 2023.
Disney shared the news on X, saying that "all the wonder, magic, and FUN of Disney's #TheLittleMermaid is coming to @DisneyPlus on September 6!"

Alongside a date announce trailer, Disney also shared a brand new poster with Halle Bailey's Ariel, Melissa McCarthy's Ursula, Javier Bardem's King Triton, Daveed Diggs' Sebastian, Jacob Tremblay's Flounder, and more.
In our The Little Mermaid review, we said: "Full of heart and led by a star-making performance from Halle Bailey, The Little Mermaid is an acceptable, if not always successful, adaptation of the animated original."
Speaking of the original, it was released in theaters in 1989 and quickly became one of the most beloved Disney movies and has stayed near the top of the list ever since. We ranked The Little Mermaid as the fourth-best Disney animated movie and said only Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King barely surpass it.
The new version of The Little Mermaid arrived in theaters on May 26 and had a $117.5 million domestic weekend box office victory in its debut. The film's performance was also enough to make it the fifth-highest Memorial Day weekend opening of all time.
As it stands, The Little Mermaid has earned $297.1 million in North America and $564.3 million worldwide.
