Thunderbolts* star Julia Louis-Dreyfus has revealed that the final movie of Phase 5 aims to take the MCU back to its "roots" with a "human story" and not "as much CGI" as previous entries.

The stars of Thunderbolts* have already claimed that the movie will "drop a bomb" on the MCU because it is "not straightforward" and offers "something different" to other releases — but now we have a better idea of what to expect, as Louis-Dreyfus recently shared some insight into the production with The New York Times.

"They're trying to sort of go back to their roots.

"It's very well organized. Very methodical. And I don't mean that in a negative way," Louis-Dreyfus said of her time on set. "Particularly on this film, they're very much focused on, frankly, the human story, believe it or not. They're trying to sort of go back to their roots, as it were. And so there's a lot of focus on that. They're trying to stay away from as much CGI or whatever as possible, so that the stunts are, like, everywhere. And in fact, I had to do a couple.

"I'm making this out to sound like I'm flying through the air like Captain America or whatever, but I'm not," she added before clarifying, "It's just a very, very, very, very brief stunt."

Louis-Dreyfus will reprise her role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine for Thunderbolts* as she steps out to manage a team made up of David Harbour's Red Guardian, Hannah John-Kamen's Ghost, Wyatt Russell's US Agent, Olga Kurylenko's Taskmaster, Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, and Sebastian Stan's Winter Soldier.

Thunderbolts* is something of Marvel's answer to DC's Suicide Squad, but what this group has in store remains a mystery. That, however, has not stopped fans from speculating about it, particularly whether the asterisk in the film's title signifies anything about the team and where things will be left heading into Phase 6.

Thunderbolts* will be the second MCU film to hit theaters next year. It is currently slated for release on May 2, 2025, following Captain America: Brave New World on February 14, 2025.
