The Naruto anime features one of shonen anime's most complex and fascinating combat systems of all. At first, the combat system centered around the trio of ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu, but then special techniques such as kekkei genkai, remarkable hiden jutsu, and curse marks deepened the combat system much more. Many of those techniques and abilities provided commentary on the Naruto world, such as how hiden jutsu are a relic from the era of feuding ninja clans who carefully guarded their secrets. But curse marks, like Sasuke Uchiha's own, represent something even darker.
