Wolf Pack Cancelled After One Season

Wolf Pack, the supernatural teen drama starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, will not return for a second season on Paramount+.

The streamer has cancelled Wolf Pack after just one season, with a report by Variety noting that the dual writers and actor strikes likely played a role in the decision. Sources reportedly claim that delays from the industry shutdown meant that a sophomore run would have arrived two years after the first batch of episodes.

Wolf Pack premiered on Paramount+ on January 26, 2023, which means new episodes would likely not have debuted until 2025. The large gap between seasons could have presented an issue with audience engagement, as people could possibly lose interest and drop off during the show's break from the screen.

Jeff Davis created the series for Paramount+, based on the 2004 book of the same name by Edo van Belkom. The first season, spanning eight episodes, told the story of two teens whose lives are forever changed when a raging wildfire descends on California and awakens a terrifying supernatural creature in the forest.

The series stars Sarah Michelle Gellar, Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson, and Tyler Lawrence Gray - but according to IGN's Wolf Pack series premiere review, not even Gellar could save "Paramount+'s ugly, predictable teen horror show" to transform it into "something worth watching."

Wolf Pack joins several other titles that Paramount+ has axed, including Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Queen of the Universe, and The Game. The streamer also cancelled the previously confirmed second season of Star Trek: Prodigy before it found a new home at Netflix, where the future looks bright for the animated series.
