After the explosive conclusion of the Hellfire Gala, Nightcrawler has been left to pick up the pieces in Uncanny Spider-Man #1. With mutants being hunted worldwide (and still a fugitive after the events of Legion of X), Nightcrawler has become a Friendly Neighborhood Superhero, taking up the Spider-Mantle to do good in New York City.
