Tod Browning's 1931 Dracula is based upon Bram Stoker's novel of the same name. Universal Studios made many changes to the narrative to make the story more linear and to increase the film's focus on Dracula himself. These changes make Dracula an even more formidable villain and have contributed to Dracula remaining a horror icon.
