Black Mirror's newest season is turning heads by switching things up in a number of ways. Before Season 6, every episode had taken place in the future and explored some kind of imagined technology that nevertheless offers a scathing reflection back to the modern day. For Season 6, however, creator Charlie Brooker no longer wanted to be constrained by the formula he had built. "What happens if I just set it in the past?" Brooker told Esquire, "That opens up all sorts of other things." Those "other things" are certainly explored in Season 6, Episode 4 "Mazey Day."
